Call to Artists!
Lincoln Property Company (“LPC”) is seeking an Artist or Artist Team to design a permanent, site-specific mural artwork and provide installation consultation for the new upcoming RiverRow multifamily homes project on Front Street in downtown Santa Cruz, California.
LPC will fund the artwork and manage the process with NOW Art LLC (“Now Art”). A selected panel of local stakeholders will administer the Art selection process, while NOW Art will oversee the artwork development. The artwork resulting from this process will become the property of Lincoln Property Company and RiverRow. The process of production will be marouflage, and the selected Artist will provide the design and paint the composition on canvas provided to them by the fabricator.
📍 Project size: 940 & 240 sf, but the artist will not need to paint the giant mural! Using the mauroflage technique they supply you with canvas materials, then install your art directly on the building. No climbing, no crew, no insurance requirements. You paint on the canvases provided in your own studio. This opens the project up to all kinds of artists!
📍Themes: Resiliency, Robust and diverse local culture, Open spaces, climate adaptation, and high quality of life.
Cool feature: Dynamic movement throughout the day into the evening. The work will be lit at night so that it becomes a location identifier and landmark for the community.
📍Budget: $37,500 —this is the unique part— Material Budget is additional and paid for by the Consultant: Paint, Varnish, Canvas and Installation. Artists receive a portion of the total project Budget listed in the Application instructions. The total budget for both murals is $150 thousand.
