🐾 BirchBark helps keep beloved pets with the families who love them.

Through lifesaving veterinary assistance, pet loss support, and a network of dedicated volunteers and veterinary partners, BirchBark helped save more than 400 pets and supported 250 people in 2025 alone. Their work ensures that financial hardship doesn't have to mean losing a cherished companion.

💙 Some of life's hardest moments are made a little easier because people like Dr. Kim Topp show up.

Since 2018, Kim has contributed more than 1,150 volunteer hours with Hospice of Santa Cruz County . From mentoring volunteers and sitting bedside with patients to leading Pet Therapy visits with her dog, Boomer, she brings comfort, compassion, and a steady presence when families need it most.

😁 Project Smile Santa Cruz is helping make healthy smiles accessible to everyone.

Founded by UCSC students, this volunteer-powered nonprofit has assembled more than 900 dental hygiene kits and brought oral health education to local schools and community organizations. Since 2023, their efforts have reached more than 1,500 Santa Cruz County residents, helping close gaps in access to oral health resources.

Based at Felton's Covered Bridge Equestrian Center, Horse Sense pairs rescued horses with veterans, seniors, and youth facing mental or physical challenges. In 2025, 46 volunteers contributed more than 900 hours supporting therapeutic riding, literacy programs, and meaningful connections that help both horses and people heal.
