Remembering Former Chief Frank Vasquez
The Santa Clara Police Department honors and remembers the life and service of Former Chief of Police Frank Vasquez, who passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the age of 91.
Chief Vasquez dedicated nearly 36 years of his life to protecting and serving the City of Santa Clara. Born and raised right here in our community, he holds the distinction of being the longest tenured officer in the history of the Santa Clara Police Department. From attending local schools and being inducted into the Santa Clara High School Hall of Fame, to graduating from the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy, his roots ran deep in the city he loved. He led our department with integrity, fairness, and a strong sense of duty.
Beyond the badge, Chief Vasquez was a true pillar of the Santa Clara community. He poured his time and leadership into countless local organizations, serving as Chairman of the Santa Clara County Police Chiefs Association, President of both the Santa Clara Police Association and the Santa Clara West Rotary, and Co Founder of the Santa Clara Spanish Heritage Society. His dedication to our community extended even further through his service on the boards of the Triton Museum, the YMCA, and the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish Council.
While his professional and civic achievements were vast, Chief Vasquez always maintained that his greatest and most valued achievement was his family. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family.
Thank you for your lifetime of service, Chief. You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
