Heart of the Valley recruits dependable volunteers, who will provide seniors with a variety of in-home services, including escorted transportation. Our services include:

Escorted Transportation
Heart of the Valley is one of the few agencies offering escorted transportation in our area. We will take seniors to:

At Heart of the Valley we are thinking of our clients during Older Americans Month! We have all missed being with them in person to share a laugh, get a hug, give a ride, share some food, provide a needed service or just enjoy a friendly visit. The "heart" of Heart of the Valley is its volunteers and today we are sad to report the passing of our beloved David Pirogowicz after a long illness. David was a former SRI employee and ultra runner (who regularly ran 30, 50 and 100 mile races). He dedicated his life to volunteer activities donating over 200 units of blood platelets to Stanford Blood Bank, doing pet-assisted therapy at a nursing home with his yellow lab Frank for Furry Friends, and cleaning up homeless camps along the Guadalupe river. In fact, David was so prolific with his volunteer activities that he was featured in a San Jose Mercury News ‘Doers Profile’ in the early 2000s. But the volunteer organization that captured his heart and where he volunteered for over 25 years is Heart of the Valley. David met his dynamic wife,Terry, while both were volunteering and they made an impressive impact in the lives of our seniors often taking on multiple services in a day and performing special requests that brought great joy to our clients. I always looked forward to the calls from clients who wanted to share their gratitude to David for his hard work and fantastic sense of humor. He rarely turned down client requests and our Administrative Assistant called him “ our shiny penny.” Thank you, David, for your many years of service and for making life fun for our seniors! We will always be grateful for you and will keep your memory close in our hearts. Our thoughts are with Terry today, with much love, Glenda and your friends at Heart of the Valley❤️

HOV volunteers, please take a moment to realize how awesome you are! Our seniors cannot wait until you are back to give them rides, repair their broken stuff, work in their yards, help them with their paperwork, take them shopping, run some errands, do some projects and visit them in person! All of us at Heart of the Valley cannot thank you enough for providing our seniors with care and a feeling of well-being so that they can remain independently living in their homes.
