One of Maravilla’s most popular classes keeps our residents moving toward their fitness goals! 💪

Trainer Ben Kirkwood leads our athletic residents through Orangetheory Fitness, a one hour, full-body cardio and strength workout that brings personalized training into a group setting. With each minute shaped by the science behind five heart rate zones, Ben challenges the group to keep pushing forward and working toward their individual goals.

Bocce has officially earned regular status at Maravilla! 🎯

Each week, our dedicated group takes to the court for a game that mixes easy movement with a little strategy. It's no surprise the low-impact lawn game is a favorite both here and around the Santa Barbara area.

A bouquet can carry quite a message. 💐

Maravilla is proud to take part in "Flower Empower," a Santa Barbara–based, volunteer-driven program of Dream Foundation. Each week, volunteers create and deliver around 200 handcrafted floral arrangements, accompanied by homemade cookies, artisanal chocolates, and cards made by local children and adults. These thoughtful deliveries reach people receiving hospice services, cancer centers, and homes throughout the community, with referrals coming from healthcare professionals and community members.

Since 1994, Flower Empower has delivered over 125,000 bouquets with support from local growers, bakers, chocolatiers, and dedicated volunteers like us! The program is one of the many ways Dream Foundation serves our local community while supporting its dream-granting mission, and Maravilla is proud to lend a hand to a project with such impactful local roots. 💗

Now that’s a "dam" good way to spend an evening! 🌊💛

About 20 of our Maravilla residents headed to beautiful Lake Los Carneros for the Goleta's Annual Dam Dinner, a free community tradition along the dam. With communal tables overlooking the lake, we settled in with dinner from home or local food truck favorites while the Salt Martians provided live bluegrass music. The evening also featured BBQ from Lobo Butcher Shop, Kona Ice, free face painting, and the Goleta Valley Library Bookvan.

The lakeside setting was lovely, but getting to know our neighbors made the evening even better. We met new friends from the surrounding community, including several who have called the area home for more than 50 years.

After being voted BEST Retirement Residence in our local area for nine consecutive years, Maravilla placed second last year. This year, we’re asking our friends, families, and supporters to help us make our way back to #1!

A Super Bowl ring may have caught everyone’s eye, but Dennis Harrah gave us much more to talk about. 🏈⭐

Maravilla recently welcomed Dennis, who spent 13 years in the NFL and now works in community outreach for our Home Health agencies throughout the South Coast. He shared stories from his NFL journey and spoke about the dedication and perseverance required to compete at the highest level, while emphasizing the values that have remained important to him along the way: family, integrity, and giving back.

Our residents had the opportunity to see his Super Bowl ring up close and hear firsthand about his remarkable football career, but Dennis’s humility, kindness, and genuine interest in the people he met made just as strong of an impression.

Thank you, Dennis, for spending the afternoon with us and sharing the experiences and values that have shaped your journey!

For 102 years, Fiesta has celebrated the culture, history, and traditions of Santa Barbara, and Maravilla was proud to join in! 💃🎶

Throughout the week, residents experienced the colorful parades, distinctive sounds of Mariachi music, and the graceful Spirit of Fiesta dancers that make this annual celebration so unique. A favorite outing was the historic equestrian parade, recognized as the largest of its kind in the United States.

Back at Maravilla, we continued the festivities with a Fiesta celebration of our own. A talented Mariachi band and dancers from local studios brought music and movement to us, while Food Service Director Carlos de Leon and Executive Chef Joe Panidina created a delicious menu inspired by the flavors of Fiesta.

With authentic costumes, local performers, traditional music, and a special menu, it was a fitting way to celebrate a Santa Barbara tradition more than a century in the making. ❤️
