Re-founded in September 20, 2011 by Matt Talbott, Richard Lonsbury, and Chloe Clements, "Drama Club" has risen and faded in prominence throughout the years. Renamed "SBCC's Performing Arts Club" in 2014, the club, when active, meets on pre-determined basis (weekly, bi-weekly) throughout the school year (but is usually on recess during the summer). Each meeting will feature a short session of warm-

up games, and occasionally improv games. We often invite guest speakers, primarily SBCC faculty and not only from the Theater Department, who will appear to lecture about different aspects of theater--auditioning, public speaking, playwriting, to name a few. We also emphasize on the production of student plays and monthly open-mic nights. Murder Mysteries, holiday caroling, and end-of-the-semester movie days are also activities we've instigated in the past. Whether you are a theater major or a mathematician major who is a little bit curious about a certain type of performing art (improv/playwriting/poetry/acting, etc.), then we highly encourage you to stop by and say hello whenever the club is active!

Fall 2012 : It was a cold...errr..WARM.. winter night as Drama Club and members of Glee strolled down State St. spreading Holiday Cheer. Many stopped to watch as the girls persuaded the boys in santa baby and we taught Shabnam that 2nd day of christmas isn't for turtles, but doves. We even got to carol our way through SB outfitters, dancing through isles of outdoor wear. It was a great time had by all!

THE STORY
OR, takes place (mostly) during one night in the life of Aphra Behn, poet, spy, and soon to be the first professional female playwright. Sprung from debtors' prison after a disastrous overseas mission, Aphra is desperate to get out of the spy trade. She has a shot at a production at one of only two London companies, if she can only finish her play by morning despite interruptions from sudden new love, actress Nell Gwynne; complicated royal love, King Charles II; and very dodgy ex-love, double-agent William Scott—who may be in on a plot to murder the king in the morning. Can Aphra resist Nell's charms, save Charles' life, win William a pardon, and launch her career, all in one night? Against a background of a long drawn-out war and a counter-culture of free love, cross-dressing, and pastoral lyricism, the 1660s look a lot like the 1960s in this neo-Restoration comedy from the playwright The San Francisco Bay Guardian called "an artist of playful and highly literate imagination, radical instincts, and sardonic but generous humor."

All actors will receive a $200 stipend.
