Public Law Center Orange County's pro bono law firm is committed to providing access to justice for low income residents.

PLC provides Orange County attorneys with the opportunity to help make sure that access to civil justice is available to all. PLC offers a variety of different types of pro bono work for potential volunteers, whether they are in large firms or small firms, sole practitioners, litigators or transactional lawyers, or law students. PLC opens access to justice for those who are most vulnerable to injustice.

PLC provides legal services to households who are at risk of becoming homeless, and one of the ways we get connected to the vulnerable people we support is through our partnerships with other nonprofits in OC, like South County Outreach 🍊
 
Staff from PLC’s Housing Unit recently had the chance to take a tour of South County Outreach’s food pantry and distribution center. We learned more about how they provide food and housing services to struggling people in our community, and talked about how we have unique opportunities to work together to support people who are marginalized and seeking help and hope. 💙

JustOC brings together five Orange County legal aid organizations with a shared goal: making it easier for people to connect with the legal help they need. ⚖️

What began as conversations about how we could work better together has grown into a shared vision for a coordinated entry system for legal services across Orange County.

PLC is honored that this work has been recognized with support from the Samueli Foundation’s inaugural OC+ Fund, that was created to invest in collaborative solutions to complex challenges.

We’re grateful to Samueli Foundation for believing in the power of collaboration and giving us the opportunity to build something new, together. 💙

On August 10, the California Supreme Court issued its ruling in Family Violence Appellate Project v Superior Courts of California. The Court ruled that California courts have a mandatory duty to provide meaningful access to an official verbatim record in civil and family proceedings, using electronic recording if a court reporter is unavailable.
