108 years ago, a people who had survived Genocide, rose from the ashes and declared an independent Armenian state.

Today, that legacy is not just memory, it is a responsibility.

As Armenians face continued threats to their sovereignty, identity, and dignity, we recommit ourselves to the defense of Armenian statehood, and the pursuit of justice.

Happy First Independence Day, Armenia.

"Politicians who take money from Azerbaijan - an anti-Christian dictatorship that has recently ethno-religiously cleansed 150,000 Armenian Christians from their homeland - should have no place in the U.S. Congress." - John Eibner, Christian Solidarity International

Thank you for your long-term support of the Armenian American community and our priorities in Orange County, Supervisor Don Wagner

On Tuesday, Vice Chair Foley and I presented a resolution recognizing April 24 Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

Orange County is home to a large, vibrant, and culturally rich Armenian American community whose members contribute significantly to the civic, cultural, educational, and economic life of the County.

I encourage all residents of Orange County to observe this day through education, reflection, and commemoration.

Thank you for your consistent, steadfast support of the Armenian American community, OC Supervisor Katrina Foley.

I remain committed to honoring the memory of the 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide with the dignity they deserve. Yesterday, we shared a proclamation recognizing the Armenian Genocide as established historical record, condemning all acts of hate, and reaffirming we will learn from the lessons of history.

For Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, the Orange County Board of Supervisors stood with our community: voting unanimously to proclaim that the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians is settled historical fact, that ethnic cleansing must be condemned wherever it occurs, and that the 2023 forced displacement of Artsakh's Armenians cannot be erased from the record.

ANCA Orange County thanks every Supervisor for their voice, with particular appreciation for Supervisor Don Wagner and Supervisor Katrina Foley, whose consistent leadership has anchored our community's relationship with the County.

ANCA OC Chair Dr. Kev Abazajian accepted the proclamation alongside ANCA Western Region Executive Director Ruben Karapetian, Laguna Niguel Councilmember Stephanie Oddo, and AGBU OC Saturday School Director Gevork Martirosian — Armenian American leadership across civic, regional, and educational life, gathered in one place.

But proclamations are a beginning, not an end.

111 years after the Genocide, Armenian hostages remain in Baku's prisons. More than 100,000 Artsakh Armenians remain displaced from homes their families held for millennia. Armenian churches, monasteries, and khachkars in occupied territory remain at the mercy of a regime that has already shown the world what it does to Armenian heritage.
