When the President says he is going to disrupt an election, I believe him. A successful effort to interfere in an election is what first motivated me to run for office 36 years ago. More encouraging news today, and we are continuing to make progress. Emergency officials shared that the situation is moving in the right direction as crews stabilize the tanks and begin transferring material from the volatile tank into another tank to help neutralize it.

While my team remains deployed and active in the community right now, helping at shelters, sharing resources and assisting residents impacted by this emergency, I’m heading back to Sacramento to begin conversations with legislative leaders and the Governor about what more we can do and what steps need to be taken moving forward.

Something like this can never happen again. We owe our communities answers, accountability and action.
