My office hosted the OC Free Health Fair at Mile Square Park in collaboration with VPASC (Vietnamese Physicians Association of Southern California). Members of the public had the opportunity to have medical services such as eye examinations, bone density measurements, flu shots, one-on-one medical advice, and even dental work – all for free. Thank you to VPASC, all participating doctors, vendors, and MEMO (Medical, Educational Missions, and Outreach) student volunteers for giving back to our community and making this event possible.

This past weekend my office hosted the 2024 Moon Festival at Mile Square Park, one of the most significant celebrations in the Vietnamese culture. Everyone who attended had a great time and enjoyed Moon Cakes, lanterns, face painting, Balloon animals, arts and crafts.
Thank you to the singers and cultural dance groups who were the real stars of the show celebrating the cultural significance of the Moon Festival in Little Saigon.

A Huntington Beach resident recently tested positive for West Nile Virus, the first local case this year. Orange County health officials urge residents to take precautions to protect themselves and their family.

Here are some ways you can minimize your risk to West Nile Virus:

• Empty all standing water on your property, such as flowerpots and pet bowls.

• Check your window and door screens for any tears or openings.

• Properly use and apply insect repellent.

• Limit outdoor activity at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.

• Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors.

My District Representative, Jack Du, recently presented a Certificate of Recognition to the City of Westminster to commemorate the completed renovation of the Newcastle Park Playground.

The playground renovation offers more safety features, including rubber flooring. There’s also a new climbing feature for kids to enjoy. Congratulations to the City of Westminster for renovating the playground.

On Thursday, August 29th, the American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 10:30 am until 5:00 pm at the Westminster Library. Every day, our community needs 13,000 blood donations to meet the needs of our local hospitals. Cancer patients alone use nearly a quarter of the blood supply. A victim from a car accident can require up to 100 pints of blood.

is home to one of the nation’s premier solid waste disposal and recycling systems. Organic waste in landfills accounts for 20% of California’s methane emissions. A new state law now requires all residents and businesses to divert organic material away from landfills.

Recently, OC Waste & Recycling was recognized by the National Association of Counties for an achievement award under the Community and Economic Development Category for their innovative regional organics plan.
