Thank you to Southern California Youth Engagement Association for your incredible efforts to support our first responders here in Orange County in recognition of 9/11.

As part of SoCalYEA’s First Responders Appreciation Project, youth and community volunteers came together to assemble care packages here in Irvine that will be delivered to first responders as a gesture of appreciation for their service.

I’m inspired by the next generation getting involved civically— recognizing the importance of our first responders, and doing what they can to support them.

Supporting public radio stations like KXFM remains vital to our ability to communicate with our community during an emergency. We saw this happen during last year’s Rancho Fire— where KXFM broadcasted live, up to date emergency information from first responders directly to residents and local visitors.

Today, I joined Tom Joliet on that very same station to discuss the work our office does to support and improve the Fabulous Fifth District.

Today, my office hosted our Fifth District Hospital CEO Roundtable to discuss and identify key challenges for hospitals as a result of HR 1, county procedures, and the federal and state legislative implementation changes.

Whether financial cuts, coverage loss, indigent care, or upcoming seismic compliance requirements for hospital facilities— we must all work together to responsibly identify how to fill the coverage gaps at the county level. Despite the challenges, I’m optimistic about Orange County’s resilience and ability to prioritize healthcare for all in our community.

Today, we broke ground on the ocfireauthority Wildfire Resource Center in Rancho Mission Viejo — a strategically located facility to stage out of and defend against wildfire threats facing our South County communities. This center will ensure the brave men and women of OCFA have the equipment and resources they need, ready to go, when it’s time to respond.

A Summer full of concerts in the park is music to my ears. We enjoyed joining Ladera Ranch families for the Ladera Ranch Concert and National Night Out this month.

We hope to see you on Thursday, August 27 at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point for Dream Like Taylor and opener Katie Ferrara. With iconic hits and coastal views, what a perfect way to spend a summer evening -- singing, dancing, and shaking it off with Orange County Parks!

Coto de Caza Investigation Update: The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has identified a juvenile believed responsible for distributing antisemitic hate-group propaganda in our community. Investigators contacted the individual and will submit the case to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of appropriate charges once the investigation concludes.

When residents first reported these hateful flyers, my office immediately contacted law enforcement and called for a swift, thorough investigation. I appreciate OCSD investigators for taking these incidents seriously and pursuing accountability.
