We have a busy weekend ahead. Café Mesa officially opens tomorrow! My office invested $1.2 million in this location near the Donald Dungan Library, giving visitors a new spot to enjoy coffee after picking up a book. We also provided funding to support the purchase of café equipment. Join us for the ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. at Lions Park.

Tomorrow, we also look forward to getting into the Halloween spirit at Boo at the Bay. Bring the family to the Halloween party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center in Newport Beach.

We must continue standing with survivors, amplifying their voices, and ensuring every victim of crime has the support and resources they deserve.

I joined Crime Survivors’ Evening of Resilience. A night with survivors, advocates, and community members whose strength and courage are inspiring. Hearing the stories of our public safety victim advocates helping crime survivors is a powerful reminder of why we must continue showing up for victims and their families, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and never alone on their journey of healing.

TOMORROW: My office will host our 19th Annual Senior Summit on October 23, 2026 from 9am-1pm at Aliso Viejo Ranch (100 Park Ave, Aliso Viejo).

Enjoy workshops on topics like aging over the decades starting with menopause to memory care, skin cancer prevention tips, Medi-Cal and CalFresh enrollment, free vaccinations and health screenings, and workshops and resources for disaster preparedness.

End the day with a free Jazzercise class to encourage movement at all ages.

Need sandbags? My office is distributing at the Costa Mesa Senior Center till 7pm. Can’t make it today? We’ll be in Laguna Hills next Tuesday, October 27th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the old Laguna Hills Mall. Get prepared.

“Our coastal communities cannot afford to wait until another major storm threatens critical transportation infrastructure," said Vice Chair Katrina Foley. "The damage along PCH underscores the urgent need for proactive coastal protection."

Vice Chair Foley continued, "I appreciate Caltrans' swift action to stabilize the roadway and advance emergency repairs, however, emergency repairs alone cannot protect our coastline. We need more sand replenishment and long-term solutions to safeguard our beaches, critical infrastructure, and coastal communities before the next major storm.”

In preparation for the incoming El Niño storm system, OC Public Works and my office will host two FREE sandbag distributions to help local residents defend their homes from floodwaters. Join us October 20 from 4-7pm at Costa Mesa Senior Center to receive up to 50 FREE sandbags & resource information from local agencies.
