Today, our department was honored to be recognized and presented with the TPCA - Texas Police Chiefs Association Accreditation Award by Chief Robert Crawford of Northlake Police Department at the Public Safety Recognition Event. This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence demonstrated daily by our personnel. We strive to be the best.

We were especially proud to share this day with the Sansom Park Fire Department, all of their remarkable achievements, and celebrate public safety together. The event also showcased the outstanding capabilities of our team, including an impressive K9 demonstration by K9 Hans and Lt. Hagin, and a drone demonstration by Crime Analyst Moralez, both of which highlighted the professionalism and skill within our department.

While today was a day of recognition and pride, it was also a moment to honor one of our own. After nearly five years of dedicated service, Chief Burchfield has made the decision to move on from our department. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment. Under his guidance, our department has grown exponentially, reaching milestones that will have a lasting impact.

Chief Burchfield’s leadership will always be a core memory in our department’s history, and his presence will be greatly missed. We thank him for his service and wish him continued success in his next chapter. May God bless you, Chief Burchfield, and keep you as you move forward. Thank you for answering the call to lead, serve, and strengthen this department.

PSA: Car thieves aren’t relying on brute force anymore - they’re using technology.

From relay attacks that capture key fob signals inside your home, to diagnostic tools that can reprogram a vehicle key in minutes, today’s auto thieves are more sophisticated than ever.

So how can you protect your vehicle?

🔐 Secure your OBD port to prevent unauthorized access.
📵 Disable your key fob signal, if your vehicle allows.
📦 Store keys in a Faraday pouch or box to block signal theft.
⛔ Consider a kill switch or other disabling device.
🛞 Don’t overlook the basics - steering wheel locks still work.

Remember: vehicles that appear harder to steal are often passed over.

Protect your vehicle. Don’t make it an easy target.

We are incredibly proud of our very own K-9 officer, Hans, who successfully received his recertification last week alongside his partner, Lieutenant Hagin.

Their dedication, teamwork, and countless hours of training truly show in the important work they do to keep our community safe.

As we celebrate National Police Week, we also want to take a moment to recognize our K-9 officers and the unique role they play in law enforcement. Thank you, Hans and Lt. Hagin, for your service, commitment, and partnership. We are grateful for you both!
