Missing the manatee and our Sanibel home - hoping to be let back into the US soon!

Welcome back to Mammal Tuesday! Say hello to the Florida Manatee. Do it quietly though, this one might have just had a big meal.

Even though manatees are herbivores, that doesn’t seem to curb their voracious appetites. While dining on a variety of sea grasses and algae, manatees can actually eat up to a tenth of their body weight in just one day, that’s around 130lbs. Cue a food coma.

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a martes Mamífero! Digan hola al Manatí de Florida. Haganlo silenciosamente, éste pudo haber tenido una comida fuerte.

Apesar de que los manatíes son herviboros, eso no parece frenar su apetito voraz. Mientras comen una variedad de pastos marinos y algas, los manatíes pueden comer hasta una décima parte de su peso corporal en solo un día, eso es alrededor de 130 libras. Señal de un coma alimenticio.
