We kicked things off with a run through Downtown Sanford, and we want to thank everyone who came out, participated, and showed their support.

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to bringing you more events, videos, and a closer look at the people who serve our community every day.

🚨 Every day, Sanford Professional Firefighters put their lives on the line in a job that slowly takes its toll — through sleep deprivation, elevated cancer risks, cardiac issues, su***de, and traumatic stress. They also face life-threatening dangers on every emergency call.
For years, our members have fought for:
• Competitive wages to match surrounding departments
• A reduced workweek (from 56 to 42 hours) to comply with state law
• Stronger pensions to support their families

Because of the physical and mental demands of this profession, many retire in their 50s and face serious long-term health challenges that can shorten their post-retirement years.
This is why we as a union cannot simply agree to whatever the city offers when those proposals fail to address these critical issues we desperately need to fix.
Our firefighters show up every shift to protect the health and safety of Sanford citizens. The Union will fight just as hard for fair pay, better working conditions, and the retirement security they have earned.

***URGENT***
Your Sanford Firefighters need your help!

For over a year your Sanford Firefighters have been fighting for wages and benefits with the City of Sanford. The City has advised us they are no longer willing to negotiate. Your firefighters have been out of contract for 9 months! Due to their mismanagement of a 200+ million dollar budget your city officials have publicly threatened cutting emergency services, consolidating the second oldest fire department in Florida with the county, and freezing our negotiations (currently frozen all negotiations). Every employee in the city has received raises except firefighters, nothing says you support public safety and the safety of your citizens like freezing them out.
The City Manager”s” (yes multiple managers) and the board of commissioners are to blame they could care less about your safety!

Take a note City of Sanford, FL Government stop fighting your first responders and stop threatening to give us away to Seminole county because you can’t competently manage us with the largest tax base in Seminole county. Take pride in your public safety like The city of Winter Park! They truly understand the value of their public safety and your employees are getting tired of constantly fighting to stay competitive when they can just leave to a city that appreciates them.
