Seminole County Sheriffs Office Explorer Post 517

Explorer Post 517 provides the opportunity for young adults, ages 14-21, to gain an insight into Law Enforcement as a possible career field.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is a branch of the Seminole County Police Athletic League. Our goal is not only to provide an understanding of Law Enforcement, but also to look at the many segments of Law Enforcement as a possible profession. As a member of Explorer Post 517 you will have the opportunity to participate in community service activities throughout Seminole County as well as working with Deputies and other employees of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

The SCSO Explorers recently welcomed two very well-deserved promotions on July 9th.

Training Sergeant Devin Ejarque-Hinton was promoted to Operations Lieutenant. He will continue to oversee our New Member Training Program as well as our Operations Department.

Squad Corporal Eric Sedeniussen was promoted to Squad Sergeant. He is currently assigned to Alpha Squad.

These promotions were earned through hard work, dedication, and commitment. Congratulations to both!

On July 2nd, the SCSO Explorers celebrated 3 big retirements! Explorer Major Kristina Andreyenko retired from the program after nearly 4 years of service. Major Andreyenko’s tenure was one paved with continuous work and dedication to better herself as both an explorer and as a person. We look forward to seeing her continue to grow throughout life.

Keith Betham “Mr. B” and Stephanie Berrios “Mrs. Steph” retired from their agency positions as well. We are so very grateful for their dedication and sacrifice to generations of youth. Their reach and influence has played an instrumental role in the lives of many.

Something we say and mean is that once you join the Explorer family, you are always part of the Explorer family. This is something you can see reflected in the last picture. This is only a handful of Explorers that will forever be part of our family.

This past week, 9 of the SCSO Explorers competed at the Florida Association of Police Explorers State Competition. Explorers competed in Scenario competition, Color Guard, Drill Team, and the Pistol Competition. It was a great experience for growing their knowledge, gaining experience, and building camaraderie within their team.

The SCSO Explorers brought home the following awards:

2nd Place Drill Team: Commander James Erickson, Explorer Buster, Explorer Andreyenko, Explorer Ejarque-Hinton, Explorer Murphy.

2nd Place Tyro: Youth Deputy Jammar Osgood

2nd Place Steel Shoot: Captain Brian Buster

4th Place Search & Arrest: Major Kristina Andreyenko, Captain Brian Buster, Sergeant Devin Ejarque-Hinton, Youth Deputy James Erickson.

Advisor Isabelle Rivera was awarded the FAPE Advisor of the Year.

The following Adult Board positions were sworn in:

Adam Brewster - Range Master
Isabelle Rivera - Range Master Assistant

On Friday, June 12th, four of the SCSO Explorers graduated from the Central Florida Law Enforcement Explorer Academy. We are so very proud of these 4 young men.

Youth Deputy James Erickson and Youth Deputy Travis Noe graduated Phase 3 of the Academy, while Youth Deputy Jammar Osgood and Youth Deputy Jayce Biscardi graduated Phase 1.

The following awards were received:

Phase 3 - Best Tactical - 1st Place - James Erickson
Phase 1 - Top Shooter - 1st Place - Jammar Osgood

Yesterday, three of our retired explorers graduated the Law Enforcement Academy! We are so very proud of these young men! They attribute much of their success in the academy to the knowledge they gained from the Explorer program.
