Our Story
Seminole Soil & Water Conservation District is an elected board which was created under the Florida State regulatory code. Individual state soil & water districts act as a liasion between other government agencies, private organizations, and the public at large. Through our relationship with the Florida Department of Agriculture and the NRCS - National Resources Conservation Service. Our mission is to educate land users and water consumers, promote natural conservation technology and to provide the best land and water use management practices that will conserve, improve and sustain the natural environment of Seminole County Florida.
As a conservation district we are charged with providing service to the citizens of our county. As elected officials we are subject to the will of the people.
SSWCD consists of five supervisors elected during in a county wide race which serve staffered four year terms. They volunteer their time, no salary is provided to the board's supervisors.
The Chairman presides over all meetings, signs all legal documents, and appoints Commissioners to various committees. The Chairman is the official representative of the Board and retains a vote on all items and issues.
The Seminole Soil Water Conservation District Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.
