The Museum of Seminole County History is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Seminole County and its place in Central Florida, and educating the public on its unique heritage. SEMINOLE WEKIVA TRAIL: Please be advised that asphalt repair work will take place on the Seminole Wekiva Trail between the San Sebastian Trailhead and the SR 434 tunnel from Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 19, 2026.

While the trail will remain open during this work, trail users are advised to use caution and watch for workers, equipment, and patchwork areas along the trail right-of-way.

SUMMER LEISURE GUIDE ☀️ Seminole County Parks and Recreation has released its Summer Leisure Guide, featuring camps, programs and events happening across the County this season.

Did you know more than 9,500 people attended youth programs at the Seminole County Library in April alone? The Leisure Guide is a great way for families to discover educational, recreational and fun activities throughout Seminole County. From parks and trails to the library, museum, facility and pavilion rentals and more, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE NOTICE 🇺🇸 Seminole County parks will remain open but unsupervised, with limited courts and fields available at no charge. Parks will close at 8 p.m.

MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE: Seminole County business offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day, and will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

The Central Transfer Station and County landfill will remain open, and residential waste collection services will not be affected. However, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) tunnel at the Central Transfer Station and Solid Waste customer service operations will be closed.

The Seminole County Library, Animal Services, Museum of Seminole County History and Extension Services will also be closed on Monday, May 25.

Seminole County parks will remain open but unsupervised, with limited courts and fields available at no charge. Parks will close at 8 p.m.

WILDLIFE ON THE EDGE (NEW!) 🐍 There’s still time to sign up for Friday’s program! Celebrate Endangered Species Day by getting up close with some of Florida’s most fascinating — and rare — wildlife. Learn about the challenges these species face and how Seminole County’s Natural Lands Program helps protect their habitats.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet live animals, including an Eastern indigo snake, gopher tortoise and American alligator.

🌳PARKS & REC CITIZEN'S ACADEMY: Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday for the final stop of the 2026 Seminole County Citizen’s Academy featuring Parks & Recreation!

We loved sharing the people, programs, and places that make Seminole County special — from storytime with our children’s librarians and animal encounters with the Natural Lands team to UF/IFAS gardening programs and exhibits from the Museum of Seminole County History.

Thank you for being part of this year’s Citizen’s Academy experience and for spending the day exploring all that Seminole County Parks & Recreation has to offer.
