Sandy Hills Community Council

Sandy Hills Community Council We are your Sandy Hills Community Council. Sandy Hills Consists of 3 unincorporated Salt Lake County Islands inside of Sandy City.

Dear Residents,

On October 21st, 2008 a group of resident's from the unincorporated South East area of Salt Lake County held a meeting to resurrect the Sandy Hills Community Council. This meeting was held at the Sandy Library and has continued to meet every month in the small meeting room on the second Wednesday at 7:00PM. We meet to discuss and address concerns with regards to our local communit

y. During the course of this meeting in 2008, with the help of officials from neighboring community councils, we were able to resurrect the Sandy Hill’s Community Council. The Sandy Hill’s Community was actually incorporated by a few individuals back in Oct 2001. However, the non-profit corporation failed to renew its license and let it expire in Oct 2003. The residents who were present at this meeting made the decision based upon the result of a mandated survey proposed by the State Legislature: To respond and implement the desires of the majority of residents and property owners residing in these unincorporated areas. At this meeting, an election was held and our Community Council was created. Nominations and elections of officers were established. This newly elected Community Council consists of local volunteers who represent your political subdivisions and will have the job of establishing a strong and united foundation working hand in hand with the Salt Lake County Government. Sandy Hill’s Community Council will represent 5 areas known as “Districts” of unincorporated Salt Lake County and the council will consist of 5 district representatives and 4 “At Large” Representatives. The survey established a strong and overwhelming desire to remain in “Unincorporated Salt Lake County”. Continued efforts will be made with the state Legislature to develop a feasible implemented plan to carry into effect the results of this survey. Again, the Sandy Hills Community Council (SHCC), will meet as a board once a month on the second Wednesday at approx. 7:00 pm at a public venue (Sandy Library 1300 East 10100 South) All are welcome to attend.

Fast and noisy cars on 13th East in Sandy continue to disrupt the lives of those who live near and work along the busy road, especially the mile-long stretch that runs from 77th to 86th South.

What a great meeting we had with SLCo DA, Sim Gill... Thanks Sim for all you do for our communities.

What a great meeting we had with SLCo DA, Sim Gill... Thanks Sim for all you do for our communities.

DA Gill is visiting community councils around Salt Lake County to discuss the work we do at the SLCO DA's Office and how we can serve their communities. This week he went to the Sandy Hills Community Council and took questions about disability rights and land access issues.
