Labor Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a recognition of the generations of workers who fought for safer workplaces, fairer treatment and basic protections on the job.
Many rights we now take for granted were shaped by the labor movement and decades of advocacy and legislation, including limits on child labor, the 40-hour workweek, workplace safety standards and protections against discrimination, including pregnancy discrimination.
This Labor Day, we recognize the workers who helped build our communities and the progress that continues to shape the American workplace.
Reminder that Sandy City offices are closed today, Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
