Come to the Sandy City Food Truck Night and meet the baby horses! It's Animal Services Night at Amphitheater Park from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

Our Sandy City Animal Services team will offer free pet microchipping services for Sandy residents. Pick up pet supplies and learn more info about local resources for our furry friends.

You'll also have a chance to meet Ca$h the K9 from our Sandy City Police Department along with Beacon the yellow lab service dog.

Plus, you'll have access to a variety of great food truck menu items. It's going to be a night everyone will enjoy!

You may have heard about the early morning fire that forced the closure of a Sandy City fast food favorite yesterday. Flames were shooting out from the attic above the kitchen just around 5:00 am. Fire crews report the building was filled with thick smoke when they arrived and the damage forced the closure of the restaurant for awhile.

We're hoping for a quick cleanup and restoration for owner Chris Katsenevas and the Crown Burger team in Sandy. The business is a fantastic, long-time community staple that we greatly appreciate.

In the meantime, we'll have to be satisfied by thoughts of those tasty pastrami burgers and mouthwatering Greek Salads. What's your favorite Crown Burger dish? Post in the comments!

Most accidents are preventable. That's why Sandy City is recognizing June as National Safety Month - a time to focus on the everyday decisions that help keep our families, neighborhoods, parks, and roads safe all summer long.

I was pleased to meet with the Utah Safety Council and sign a proclamation making this declaration official. The Council is located right here in Sandy and we're proud to have them in our city. Their work extends far and wide as they train workers to be safe on the jobsite.

From wildfire preparedness to safe driving and community wellness, safety is something that affects every residents. Let's all look around at our environment and our habits to see how we can reduce daily risks and bring greater levels of safety to our own households.

If you're tired of living in a world where kids are spending more time on their electronic devices than interacting with others? Consider your local 4-H Club and checking out the USU Bastian Agricultural Center in City of South Jordan – Government.

Over the next year and a half, you're going to see many new options open that allow youth new opportunities to raise and care for livestock, learn problem solving skills, and build new connections with other youth. In fact, one sign that things are moving along will be visible from I-15 with an 80-foot tall tree house (which will be open to youth and adults)!

The mission among leaders here is to light a spark in the lives of young people to set them on a positive life track. USU is serving the entire state with their programing and is working with 4-H clubs to get little ones started.

Special thanks to Dave and Josh with the Bastian Center and USU who hosted some members of the Salt Lake County Government's TRCC board members to look at the progress and talk about future plans. I’m
Proud to serve on the county’s TRCC board that recommends financial support to a wide variety of county recreation programs - including our new rec center.

One more special feature to look forward to: a MUD KITCHEN! Seriously! Kids will be able to come here to get their hands dirty, and then some. And doesn't every kid dream of rolling around in the mud?

As a lover of horses, I've come to appreciate this beautiful amenity and appreciate the rural quality lifestyle this offers to people in Sandy City and throughout the community. Utah State University Extension

If there is an emergency in Sandy City, you've got a strong team in place and at-the-ready. Our Sandy City Fire Department's Emergency Manager David Larsen meets regularly with us to work through emergency scenarios, discuss procedure, and conduct regular equipment tests to assure we'll be ready. In this class, you see our Emergency Operations Center Policy group.

Battalion Chief Larsen also offers monthly trainings to residents to help with disaster preparation. It's always the third Wednesday of the month at Fire Station 31. Follow our Sandy City social media pages or sign up here sandy.utah.gov/myalerts to receive information about these meetings.

Did you know one of our city's main water sources is Little Cottonwood Creek? Have you seen water levels there lately? People may be feeling nervous about low snowpack totals this year since a good portion Sandy City's water supply comes from the canyon. While there is every reason to conserve this year, don't worry. We are not going to run out of water anytime soon. However, we just can't ignore Mother Nature.

Hear from our Sandy Public Utilities Director Tom Ward about our water resources and tips everyone can implement to save this precious resource. Think of it this way, saving water saves you money which also saves the Great Salt Lake. It's another reason to conserve! KUTV 2News

Lisa Romero has lived feet away from the Little Cottonwood Creek her entire life and has never seen it so dry this time of year."We don't have much in there,” s

Over the weekend, Sandy Council Member Brooke Christensen and I took Salt Lake County Council members Dea Theodore and Laurie Stringham for a round at River Oaks golf course. We saw beautiful wildlife and might’ve hit a few balls in the water but hey, we did birdie one hole! Lots of fun, and time well spent with our elected officials who serve Sandy with Salt Lake County Government who have important spaces and services in Sandy… like Dimple Dell Park and of course the Rec Center, Mountain America Expo as well as the County Health Department . Sandy City Council

P.S. Did you know that Sandy’s public course is fully self-funded? That’s right, this top-tier community recreation amenity pays its own way and receives no taxpayer operation subsidy. We have an incredible team of golf professionals who maintain the course to the highest standards. I am really proud to have River Oaks in Sandy. Even if you’re not a golfer you should go check it out. Hit a bucket of balls at the driving range or stop by for lunch at the grill on your walk or ride along the Jordan River. Say hi to Mitch and his crew and tell him the mayor sent ya’!

A bit overdue but here’s a few pics from the Open Barn Saturday to meet Liberty Belle and her brother Justice for All. Thanks to everyone who came out to experience the joy of baby horses. The foals and their mamas will be making a visit to next week’s Food Truck Night at the Amphitheater Park. You will be surprised how much they’ve grown in just a few weeks. They’ve already grown 3” taller, have had their halters on, and had a first visit from the farrier. They grow up so fast - you won’t want to miss next Monday!
