Let Books Be: Protect the Freedom to Read! 🔥🚧📚

Banned Books Week is October 4-10, 2026. Visit our display from now through October 19 to see books that have been challenged or banned throughout the years. You’ll have the opportunity to guess why, and then find out the reason. These books are also available for check out! While you are here, use our fun photo op to "book yourself" with your favorite banned title.

Whether you’re a seasoned genealogist or just beginning to explore your family tree, the Sandusky Library has resources to help you along the way!

Join us this month for a special invitation to genealogy beginners. We’ll review different types of historical records and demonstrate how to find them at the Sandusky Library’s Archive Research Center. You’ll also learn helpful research methods and strategies to get your family history journey off to a strong start.

Come share research tips, tackle those frustrating roadblocks, tell your ancestry stories, and connect with fellow genealogy enthusiasts. All experience levels are welcome!

💪 The library was thrilled to be a part of the Strongman Champions League event today in downtown Sandusky! The event featured elite strongman athletes from around the world competing in the heart of downtown Sandusky!

Many of the youngest spectators, and their grown-up’s, had the opportunity to get into the action at our Little Legends Challenge. Kids had the opportunity to enjoy hands-on obstacle stations inspired by challenges seen in strongman competitions.

And of course, we handed out bookmarks with a list of books, videos, and more, inspired by so many of the strongmen and strongwoman! (We’ve included a picture of the bookmark in case you want to check them out).

A big thanks to all of those who stopped by our arena at today’s event!

Come visit the Sandusky Library’s “Future Champions Arena”, where we celebrate reading and feats of strength for lil’ strong kids, with small versions of Strongman activities! All free!

We’ll be at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Water Street from Noon to 5:00 p.m. today, Sunday, September 6th.

We're excited to welcome back Strongman Champions League tomorrow! On Sunday, September 6, some of the strongest athletes from around the world will return to downtown Sandusky to battle through a series of strength competitions for the Strongman Champions League USA Title.
