The Sanilac County Veterans Affairs Board honored former board member, John Nezworski, last week at their monthly meeting. He was presented with a plaque and resolution for his many years of dedicated service to the board.

Board member Charles Cunningham presented John Nezworski with the resolution and Board Secretary Donald Rudy presented John Nezworski with the plaque.

Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 is proud to host our 4th Annual Veteran’s Appreciation Event, held every year on the 3rd Wednesday in May, as a way to honor and give back to those who have served.

This special event is open to veterans, active military, and their families, offering a day of appreciation and support.
What to Expect:
• Free services like haircuts, acupuncture, and SoftWave therapy (as available)
• Resources and information on veteran care & benefits
• A FREE boxed lunch (wrap, chips, cookie, coffee/water)
• Veteran lapel pin, Hygiene travel kit, cooler bag, & raffle ticket for prizes

Billing Information for Michigan Veterans

With the transition to the Federal Electronic Health Record at the VA Healthcare Systems, the billing statement you receive in May 2026 may look different than previous statements.

In addition, depending on when you received services, you may receive two bills in May – one for services received prior to the transition on April 11, and one for services received after the transition.

Please note that both statements are valid.

For any questions about billing statements, please call the number listed on your billing statement. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET.
