Sandia Volunteer Fire Department The Sandia Volunteer Fire Department is based in Sandia, Tx. We service Jim Wells County and provide mutual aid support for surrounding counties.

We provide emergency services which include brush truck, pumper tanker, extraction and halo support. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Good afternoon all,

Today commissioners court approved a 90 day burn ban go in effect today.

If you need to do a safe a control burn, please contact me at 3612274812 so the necessary paperwork can be filled out and our community, land, and property remains safe. ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ

If you see smoke, please call it in. Our KBDI are in the 600โ€™s and we are in extreme drought like conditions.

The Nueces River at Cotulla is falling, but will remain in major flood levels through the weekend. Downstream at Tilden, the river has begun rising and will continue through the weekend to major flood stage. Three rivers will rise to major flood stage next week.

4 AM Update: Tropical Storm Bertha continues moving westward toward the Texas coast. The storm will move inland later today. Showers and thunderstorms are expected for South Texas especially this evening and tonight. 1-3 inches of rain are possible south of a line from Victoria to Laredo.

The Nueces River at Cotulla is currently in Major flood stage late Monday, and is expected to peak Tuesday. The Frio River at Tilden is expected to enter into minor flood stage early Tuesday and cresting in Major Flood Stage later Tuesday.

4 AM Update: Tropical Storm Bertha is slowly moving NW and is forecast to gradually strengthen today as it moves west-northwest along the northern Gulf Coast before weakening. Interests along the Texas coast should monitor this system closely. Slight northward shift in the cone.
