Keystone Ancient Forest

Keystone Ancient Forest Since 2007, we have been welcoming guests to explore the history among 300 year-old post oak and 500 year-old cedar trees.
(269)

Dogs are welcome the first weekend and third weekend of every month. The Keystone Ancient Forest totals 1,380 acres and protects a prime example of cross timbers woodlands, including some of the oldest known living eastern redcedars. Until the establishment of the preserve, there has been no park or preserve dedicated to these historic forests. While some consider the areas beauty subtle, its hist

ory is anything but that. European explorers wandered these woods while Indian tribes called it home, well before these lands were known as America. With the recent addition of the Visitors Center, the preserve is now open every Thursday thru Sunday for hiking activities. This hidden gem is quickly becoming Oklahoma’s premiere hiking destination. Open hiking hours are:
Thursday 7am-2pm
Friday 7am-6pm
Saturday 7am-6pm
Sunday 7am-6pm

Butterfly Garden Pollinator Spotlight.
πŸŒ»πŸ¦‹ 🌿 🌳 πŸͺ· 🌷 🌺 🏡️
This week is Rattlesnake Master! 🐍 You'll see this native pollinator, with its sharp looking πŸ—‘οΈ, stiff, blueish-green leaves 🌿scattered throughout the BG. It's the tallest wildflower out there right now 🌻. Its stem can grow up to 6 feet tall! It gets its name from Native Americans who would infuse its roots in a tea to cure rattlesnake bites. BOLO for Rattlesnake Master at the BG πŸ¦‹!!
