Hello, Sand City! We now have a donation bin benefitting the located here in the SCPD lobby through the holiday season. Monterey County currently has a childhood poverty rate over 30%, but together, we can help bridge the gap and stock the fridges and pantries of our neighbors in need. All donations received by the Food Bank for Monterey County stays local.

Canned goods and pantry staples can be accepted by PD staff (door located on the right) or City Hall staff (door in the alcove by the mailbox), and the bin will be available in the Council Chambers during city council meetings. If you're able, please consider dropping off a little something to support those in need here in Monterey County.

24 years ago today, our country suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in history. The events of that morning shaped and lead many of us to our chosen professions. With the scars of grief on our individual histories, we set forth each shift to carry out the mission of policing and justice on behalf of the community we serve. We haven't forgotten. 🇺🇸

Hello, Sand City. Please be advised that with the tsunami advisory still in effect, our beaches will remain closed.

From the NWS: A Tsunami Advisory remains in effect for the California coast, including all coastal regions in the Bay Area and Central Coast. Initial tsunami waves have been observed along the coastline with additional fluctuations in wave heights to continue until further notice. Dangerous and powerful currents are expected in the ocean and at the beach. Stay away from the water! Stay away from beaches and waterways! Remain away from shore until local officials say that it is OK to return. Do NOT try to go to the coast to take photos! You will not just put yourself at risk, you will put the people who have to rescue you at risk. Tsunami hazard zone maps are available at https://www.conservation.ca.gov/cgs/tsunami/maps.
