San Ramon Valley Followers: Please join us at this important event at 5pm tomorrow at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new naloxone distribution unit that has been installed at the Danville Police Department. A huge shout out and thanks to the Dougherty Valley/San Ramon (DVSR) Rotary for the grant that made it possible to install this unit, those at the San Ramon Valley libraries and at other SRV host sites to be announced soon. Thanks also to Leadership SRV for taking this on as their class project this year and for helping to pave the way for these installations. Every one of the naloxone boxes distributed from these units has the potential to save a life of one of our local community members.

Free naloxone boxes will be placed in accessible sites across the San Ramon Valley, including at the Danville Library.

California's Naloxone Distribution Project (NDP) aims to ensure that naloxone, an opioid reversal medication, is readily available to communities in need. The NDP distributes naloxone in partnership with the CalRx Naloxone Access Initiative.

The NDP began distributing naloxone in 2018, and added fentanyl test strips (FTS) to its offerings in 2024. To date, the NDP has distributed over 8 million units of naloxone and 6.5 million FTS. More than 425,000 successful opioid overdose reversals have been reported.

DHCS recognizes April 29th as National Fentanyl Awareness Day (NFAD). NFAD draws attention to the dangers of fentanyl-related overdoses and those at-risk or living with substance use disorder.
• FTS play a key role by detecting fentanyl in different types of drugs.
• Naloxone is crucial to reversing an opioid overdose, including fentanyl-related overdoses.
