MISSION: Common Knowledge is a nonpartisan organization committed to multi-sector collaboration for a more inclusive and innovative society. We believe that the complex issues facing our governments, economy and environment need the talents and energy of diverse community members. Working with public/private partnerships, Common Knowledge develops breakthrough enga

gement programs that support sustainable social change. Common Knowledge is a team of “reflective practitioners” from a mix of disciplines dedicated to empowering communications and collaborative process. Our work is done through a mix of carefully selected client projects and grant-funded programs – all contributing to a cumulative inquiry about more inclusive and innovative approaches to public life. While we are informed through our association with academics and foundations, our deepest learning comes from our direct field work in and with communities. Our “community-driven design” process has yielded some of our greatest insights about how to use existing untapped resources to accelerate positive social change.

The Voices of Community radio show and podcast asked Common Knowledge to help showcase how public libraries have been integral to helping their communities respond during the pandemic and chart a path to recovery. We partnered with Jayanti Addleman of the Hayward Public Library and Derek Wolfgram of the Redwood City Public Library, both national leaders in the field. There are great examples of how libraries have insights both broad and deep into their communities.Tune in tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday or anytime to the podcast.

We were delighted to partner with libraries across California on a candid and informative panel discussion last week about Mental Health supports for staff, volunteers and community members.

Demographic results are in from California's March 2020 primary. Two key points: 1 - " Total eligible turnout (the percentage of adult citizens who voted) was 37.3%, up nearly 4 percentage points from the 2016 presidential primary." 2 - "Latinos and youth did not see the increase in eligible turnout that many analysts and advocates had expected."
