With extremely heavy hearts, we share the sad news of the passing of Blue the American Kestrel, our beloved Animal Ambassador.

Blue was more than just a part of our team—she was a teacher, a companion, and a source of joy for everyone who visited our nature center. Through her presence, she helped visitors connect with and learn about her environment, guided our staff in bird handling, and brought smiles to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tragically, Blue passed away due to unforeseen circumstances. Her loss is a poignant reminder of the delicate balance in nature.

Her impact on our community was immeasurable, and she will be deeply missed. Thank you, Blue, for everything you gave to us.

Power Restoration in Action at Friendship Park! ⚡🌿

We had a rare glimpse of teamwork in action as Edison crews worked hard to lift and replace a hard-to-access utility pole here at Friendship Park. The replacement was critical to maintaining structural integrity, and thanks to their dedication, 754 customers in the adjacent Palos Verdes community are now back online after the outage.

What’s even more remarkable? Edison’s commitment to preserving the park’s sensitive coastal sage scrub habitat, home to many important species. Their collaboration ensured the repair was completed safely and with great care for our natural environment.

A huge thank you to the Edison workers for their skill, safety focus, and partnership in keeping both the community and our park thriving. 💡 Southern California Edison (SCE)
