In 2021, California passed Senate Bill 2 (SB 2), a landmark law meant to increase police accountability. It requires departments to report “serious misconduct,” including domestic violence, to the state’s oversight body so that officers who harm others can lose their certification to serve.
But a new L.A. Times investigation revealed that the LAPD waited more than a year to fully comply with that law, failing to report certain domestic violence cases within its own ranks. The delay raises urgent questions about how many cases went unreported and what that means for survivor safety.
Accountability in law enforcement is essential to community trust. Survivors deserve systems that protect them, not shield those who cause harm.
At Rainbow Services, we know that ending domestic violence requires more than crisis response. It demands transparency, responsibility, and change at every level.
Join us in creating safer communities by standing with survivors and calling for transparency and accountability in every system, including law enforcement.
