Happy 4th of July! Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we cherish. The men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard remain on watch across our borders, where defense of America begins. As the nation's finest maritime fighting force, we are applying our full range of capabilities to control, secure, and defend our borders and maritime approaches. We continue operations to facilitate commerce vital to economic security and strategic mobility, safeguarding a Marine Transportation System that is instrumental in restoring U.S. maritime dominance.

As an Armed Service, we are proud to stand alongside our fellow servicemembers, and extend our gratitude to all who have dedicated their lives to defending our nation. Your service and sacrifice make our freedom possible.

This holiday, please remember to celebrate responsibly and stay safe on the water.

From the U.S. Coast Guard, have a safe and happy Independence Day!

Major Interdiction Success!

On Sunday, the courageous crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal (WPB-87335) made a significant interdiction about six miles west of Point Loma, California, successfully apprehending 22 aliens aboard a 45-foot cabin cruiser!

At approximately 1:35 p.m., Narwhal’s skilled boarding team encountered the vessel and conducted a thorough inspection. They discovered 19 adult males, one adult female, one male minor, and one female minor, all claiming Mexican nationality.
The crew promptly transported these aliens to Ballast Point, where they were safely transferred to Imperial Beach Border Patrol personnel for further processing.
Protecting the American homeland and its territories is Coast Guard Pacific Area Commander’s top priority. In doing so, the Coast Guard protects and defends against threats to the safety, security, and prosperity of the American public!

Join us in celebrating the heroic efforts of the Cutter Narwhal’s crew!

Successful Interdiction Alert!

Over the weekend, the USCG Cutter Terrell Horne, in collaboration with our amazing partners at the U.S. Navy and Department of Homeland Security, successfully interdicted a suspected smuggling vessel approximately 27 miles off the beautiful coast of San Diego!

Eight individuals aboard, all claiming Mexican nationality, have been taken into custody and safely transferred to our DHS partners in Oceanside. This operation not only showcases the effectiveness of our joint maritime security efforts but also reinforces our commitment to keeping our waters safe and secure.

Applying our unique authorities and capabilities, the Coast Guard will detect, deter, and interdict illegal aliens, drug smugglers, and individuals’ intent on terrorism or other hostile activity before they reach our border.!

Join us in recognizing the teamwork and dedication that made this mission a success!
