Rotary Club of San Mateo Sunrise

Rotary Club of San Mateo Sunrise We are a group of dedicated people, who meet on Friday mornings at 7:30am at the Crystal Springs Golf Course. Volunteering for us is also fun.

Since 1986, The Rotary Club of San Mateo Sunrise has been an integral part of the community. Our Rotary Club is comprised of a diverse group of business and professional leaders from the very community that we serve. We take an active role in local community and international projects. This participation greatly enriches our personal and professional lives through the spirit of service. Taking to

heart the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, the club participates in diverse projects in the San Mateo area that include providing dictionaries to every third-grader at elementary schools, sponsoring high school students to attend leadership camps, giving awards to high school juniors for their community service work, high school senior awards, giving recognition to elementary school kids for art projects depicting “Peace”, supporting an elementary school music program and taking at-risk kids for a day of fun playing miniature golf at the Putt Your Heart Out Miniature Golf Tournament. We also help the community by helping to build and maintain local hiking trails, clean up the Bay for Bayside Cleanup Day and provide a full breakfast at the City of San Mateo’s Easter Eggstravaganza. We have a great time serving snacks and refreshments to the riders during the Tour de Peninsula Bike Ride, walking to support breast cancer research, indoor and outdoor bike riding to support Polio Plus and serving beer at the San Mateo Chamber of Commerce Bacon and Brew Festival. In addition to supporting numerous local non-profit organizations, we also contribute internationally. We have supported multiple projects such as Rotary International’s Polio Plus program, Project Peanut Butter in Ghana, Peace to Uganda, disaster relief efforts in Japan, Philippines and Nepal, water projects in Thailand, medical clinics in Mexico, supplies to orphanages in Russia and Tanzania, school for the deaf in Zanzibar and wheelchairs and playground equipment to Mexico to name a few. The cornerstone of many of these charitable efforts is the Sunrise Rotary Club of San Mateo Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 organization that accepts charitable donations from members and the public to support local agencies serving those in need, other deserving civic or charitable projects in the community and various international projects. Through various fundraising events such as the San Mateo Color 5K, the foundation has raised money for local charities and community projects as well as international projects. The Foundation’s goal is to fund charitable activities and promote education in the San Mateo community. All of our members generously give of the time and money to strive to perform Rotary’s motto, “Service above Self”. We invite you to contact us to be a guest at one of our weekly meetings. Attending one of our meetings is a great way to start the weekend. Our club meets for networking, participating in informative programs with interesting guest speakers, sharing ideas, discussing upcoming projects, engaging with fellow members and enjoying a healthy breakfast in a beautiful setting. We invite you to see what Rotary is all about. We meet on Fridays from 7:30am to 8:30am at the Wedgewood Banquet Center at Crystal Springs Golf Course.
