We need your help.

Just since this Tuesday (January 17th) 50 pets have been brought into SMRAS. There have been 164 animals brought into SMRAS since the beginning of the year. There are currently over 20 pets on the waiting list to be owner surrendered AND we just got word that we might be expecting 30 more to come in soon.

It's no secret that our kennels have been over capacity for a long, long time. We've made space where we can. There are pets in our adoption lobby, offices, vet suite, bathrooms - anywhere we can keep them.

We are packed. We cannot stress that we need adopters, fosters, and rescues to help us clear kennels. We need animals to get out of the shelter. If we don't clear a significant amount of our kennels, we will have to make some tough decisions soon.

⭐If you're ready to commit to a new pet, please come adopt.

⭐If you're ready to bring a pet home, please come foster.

Please, please share this post, tell your friends and family to adopt or foster and please help us spread the word. All ready to go animals are $22 to adopt.

🚨CODE RED🚨

We are over capacity once again, but this time it's affecting all of our temporary residents. We currently have 143 dogs and 175 cats at the shelter and are at negative 21 dog kennels and negative 12 cat kennels. We urgently need adopters, fosters, and rescues!

Please visit the shelter during our open hours to adopt. If you're unable to adopt and you are a current foster who has been through orientation, please email [email protected] if you have the space in your home to help us clear kennel space. All adoptions are $97 and include spay/neuter, vet exam, vaccinations, and a microchip.

All of our dogs, even those with behavioral struggles, deserve a loving home. Visit https://bit.ly/3xEYJmL to view our full list of adoptable animals and adoption hours. We are calling on every member of the community throughout Hays County and beyond to lend a hand.

We must clear at least 30 kennels ASAP. For us to say we're over capacity is an understatement. We are in critical need of adopters, fosters, and rescues. We continue to take in more than is being adopted out, sent to rescue, or put into foster. If we don't have a significant number of dogs leave the shelter today, we will be forced to make extremely difficult decisions.

Please visit the shelter during our open hours to adopt.
