Synthia is a world traveler AND a proud SMPL card holder! Check out these awesome photos she got on her family trip to Italy. They visited:
1) the leaning tour of Pisa
2) the Coliseum, and
3) the Arch of Constantine

While we may not all get to walk on the same stones as Augustus did, we can all pop open a good book and learn more about the world around us and the amazing people in it.

Do you have a favorite book about, from, or set in Italy? Drop it below and share the "amore"!

Congratulations to the newest 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Finisher, Anaïs!

What's more impressive, is that Anaïs read 1,000 books in just 7 months! Along with this amazing achievement, and a cool hat, Anaïs and others who have completed their 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten also get the other benefits of being a reader: expanded vocabulary, increased empathy, engaged creativity, more knowledge about the world around us, a head start when it comes to starting school soon, and so much more!

Congratulations, again, Anaïs - we can't wait to see what you check out next!

UPDATE: This event has been cancelled.

Join us at 10 a.m. tomorrow for a Technology, Modern Life, and Community course at at the multipurpose room.

This course invites participants to step back from daily routines and talk together about how technology is changing our lives and communities. Each session will help us think more clearly about attention, convenience, automation, privacy, and human connection. The goal is not to decide whether technology is good or bad, but to ask how we can use it more wisely while preserving the relationships, habits, and forms of community that make life meaningful. Ages 18+ welcome. No registration required.

Contact [email protected] for information.

The next time you stop by the library, you might see this camera in place in the parking lot. We want to make sure the library remains a safe place for families to visit, and installing this camera in front of the entrance will help address issues we've seen including litter and property damage by increasing our staff's ability to monitor the entrance and parking lot while they're working inside the building.

The camera does not have license plate reader capability and is only accessible by authorized Library, San Marcos Police Department, and City Marshal personnel.
