Greater San Marcos Youth Council

Greater San Marcos Youth Council Licensed by the Department of Family and Protective Services, the Youth Council operates a 16 bed shelter for children under the age of 18.

We provide services to Hays County through two main programs:
• Free counseling for youth aged 6–17 through FAYS.
• DFPS-licensed foster care for children aged 2–17 who cannot safely stay at home. Additionally, Hays County children and their families are eligible to receive crisis counseling, individual and family counseling, parenting classes, truancy and delinquency prevention services, anger

management classes, case management and universal child abuse prevention education. A toll-free crisis hotline is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Services are provided at no cost to the families.

Mark your calendars for GSMYC's annual Back-to-School Fest🎉

Join us on Thursday, July 30th, for a fun-filled day!

In addition to the school supply giveaway, attendees can enjoy complimentary haircuts from 3KB San Marcos and visit Hays County Health Department mobile vaccine clinic.

Please keep the following information in mind regarding the vaccinations:
A child may qualify for free vaccines through the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program if they are:
18 years old or younger AND one or more of the following applies:
• Uninsured
• Underinsured
• Enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP
• American Indian or Alaska Native

Today marks the last day of , but supporting your mental well-being should be a priority all year round💚

In this digital age, consuming healthy media can significantly impact our mental health, especially for teenagers. Podcasts are a great example of this.

We encourage teens to explore podcasts that discuss stress, friendships, identity, and emotional wellness. Listening to others share their experiences can help you feel understood, learn coping strategies, and remind you that you are not alone.

One podcast created for teens in our community is the Teen Life Soundtrack (TLS), where youth discuss real-life topics that matter to them. TLS is currently on a summer hiatus, but you can look forward to a new season featuring fresh perspectives and the same quality conversations.

If you or someone you know needs additional support, the Greater San Marcos Youth Council offers the Family and Youth Success Program (FAYS), which provides FREE counseling and support services for youth and families in our community.
