"Jimmy Wayne is a former foster kid turned country music singer/songwriter whose songs, story and walk halfway across America in 2010 highlight his mission to raise awareness for kids in foster care. His song, 'Do You Believe Me Now', was #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and earned BMI’s prestigious Million-Air Award for receiving one million radio spins in America. Jimmy is the author of Walk to Beautiful, his (three time) New York Times best-selling memoir and the author of Paper Angels, a novel and made-for-TV movie. Jimmy Wayne is the youngest recipient to receive the Salvation Army's William Booth award and In June of 2016 President George H. W. Bush presented Jimmy with the prestigious Points of Light Award. Jimmy lives in Nashville, Tennessee and works tirelessly on behalf of at-risk foster youth by performing, writing books, keynote speaking and through his organization Project Meet Me Half Way."

A special, beautiful, and emotional ceremony was held today at the CSUSM ASI Centers and it was obvious that CSUSM stands with Orlando as many reflected on recent events. Three mural projects were facilitated by Marilyn Huerta and we will continue to complete them next week. One large canvas mural will be mailed to Orlando and two smaller ones will be exhibited in the ASI Centers. If you missed out in participating in the art healing project, please feel free to stop by and add your messaging. CSUSM USU marilyn huerta
