San Marcos Professional Firefighters Association, Local 4184 As a public safety union, we carry greater responsibilities in the community than traditional labor unions.

The San Marcos Professional Firefighters Association, Local 4184 is a non-profit organization that represents the firefighters of the San Marcos Fire Department. The primary objectives of our organization are monitoring and improving public safety and firefighter safety and maintaining a cooperative labor management relationship with the city's administrators and elected leaders. Local 4184 is an

advocate for the health and safety of the citizens of San Marcos. The state of public safety can only be improved if local government makes it a priority. Local 4184 is also active in the community and the political arena. The membership of Local 4184 participates in both civic and political events that concern public safety, fire prevention and awareness and firefighter safety and education. By working in conjunction with our community leaders and fire department command staff, our members proactively seek on both a state and local level, changes that will improve the lives of the citizens we serve and the working conditions of those whose duty it is to serve you.

San Diego Burn Institute Firefighter Demolition Derby is June 28th at the SD Fair!

San Marcos Firefighters are coming in hot with two cars to defend their back to back wins.

All fundraising effort goes directly to the San Diego Burn Institute Charity! Please consider donating to help fund Camp Beyond the Scars which is a summer camp for local burn survivors. 🏁

Our 4 new hires have all successfully completed their Paramedic mentorship on the ambulance 🚑
Here’s a look into their Orientation Academy Physical Ability Test!
They will continue with their Academy to learn all things Firefighting and then on to their Probationary Year as Firefighters at any of our 4 Stations 🚒

Please join us for a night of music, friendship, and fun!  This unique collaboration between the San Marcos Firefighters and San Marcos Educators Association (SMEA) is hopefully one of many more to come.  Entry for SMEA teachers and San Marcos Firefighters is free with a valid ID.  Family, friends, and the general public are invited to attend with all proceeds for this event going towards the San Marcos Firefighters Foundation and the High School Future Centers.  We hope to pack the house, celebrate the end of the school year, and have some fun before another busy fire season!

🚨 San Marcos Firefighters, alongside Oceanside, Carlsbad, Cal Fire, Camp Pendleton, and Fresno Firefighters, spent the week at the training tower sharpening our structural collapse skills—building and installing shoring systems, reinforcing compromised structures, and practicing the techniques that keep both victims and rescuers safe! 🚒
Emergencies like these are low frequency, but requires a high level of competency and teamwork 👊🏻
