No one seemed to notice the little change to our uniforms in our last post…

We spy with our little eye… a straw hat.

Right now, these cowboy hats are temporary, and our deputies are only permitted to wear them during Texas State University games. BUT… a little birdie is curious.

What does Hays County think? Should the cowboy hats become a permanent part of the uniform and let our deputies have the option to wear them, or should we stick with our current look?

September 11, 2001. We Remember.

25 years later, we continue to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, friends, and communities forever changed that day.

We remember the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. We honor the law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Today, we pause to remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and recognize the strength and courage of those who continue to serve.

We will never forget.

On September 10, 2026, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit successfully located and apprehended Javier Valencia, 48, of Kyle, Texas.

Valencia was wanted out of Hays County on the following charges:

• Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child (First-Degree Felony)
• Sexual Assault of a Prohibited Person/Spouse (First-Degree Felony)

Valencia was located and taken into custody by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit without incident. He was transported to the Hays County Jail and remanded on the outstanding warrants.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to actively investigating outstanding warrants and holding individuals accountable for serious offenses. Our Organized Crime Unit continues to work diligently to locate fugitives and bring them before the court.

20 years ago, Sergeant Torres started his career right here at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Fast forward two decades, and he says there’s nowhere else he’d rather be and where he plans to retire.

“We want this agency to be more than just a place where people start their careers or transfer to. We want it to be a place where our guys can grow, build their careers from start to finish, and ultimately can’t imagine working anywhere else,” said Sheriff Anthony Hipolito.

Two decades of service, countless calls answered, lives impacted, and memories made. We’re proud to celebrate Torres and the dedication he has shown to HCSO and the community he serves.

Congratulations on 20 years of service, Sergeant Torres! Here’s to many more.

Going through the academy is no small feat, and stepping into the role of a Corrections Officer comes with its own set of challenges. It takes someone who is dedicated, resilient, compassionate, and ready to serve with heart and purpose.

Today, September 10th, we didn’t just host a graduation, we expanded our family and welcomed six new Corrections Officers to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

Every academy we host and every graduation we celebrate represents more than just another class of graduates. It’s a step toward building successful careers, strengthening our team, and giving individuals the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

As our agency continues to grow, so does the family behind the badge. We are proud to welcome these six individuals to the team and look forward to seeing all they accomplish.

REQUEST TO IDENTIFY BURGLARY OF BUILDING

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at approximately 10:50AM, two unidentified individuals were captured on surveillance footage unlawfully entering a barn located on a property in Buda, Texas. After entering the barn, the individuals disconnected the surveillance camera, interrupting further video coverage.

Surveillance footage depicts an unidentified male (Suspect 1) and an unidentified female (Suspect 2). Several items, including fi****ms, were reported stolen from the barn. It is unknown whether the suspects arrived on foot or by vehicle.
