On this day of reflection, the Texas State University Police Department honors the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and every life changed forever in the days and years that followed.

We remember the families, friends, and communities who carry the quiet weight of grief and loss every single day. We pay tribute to the unbelievable courage of the first responders, our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services, who answered the call without hesitation, and the service members who sacrificed so much to protect our nation.

May we continue to honor their legacy through unity, compassion, and unwavering support for one another.

We will never forget.

UPD is investigating an uptick in scooter, e-bike, and bike thefts across the San Marcos campus, mostly occurring overnight at outdoor bike racks and residence halls. Thieves are easily cutting thin cable locks in seconds with handheld tools.

Help us protect your ride with these quick steps:

🔒 Upgrade your lock: Switch to a high-security, hardened steel U-lock.

📌 Lock it right: Secure the U-lock through both the frame and wheel to an anchored bike rack. Never lock to handrails or light poles.

📝 Register for free: Log your serial number, make, and model with Bike Index (bikeindex.org). This gives us permanent proof of ownership so we can return stolen property to you.

📍 Add a tracker & remove accessories: Hide a GPS tracker inside the frame and take detachable screens or lights with you.

If you see anyone lingering near bike racks with tools or acting suspiciously, report it immediately to UPD at 📞 512-245-2805 or 📧 [email protected].

Stay vigilant, Bobcats! 🐾
