This week Yuma County’s Presiding Judge David Haws, Judge Scarlett Harper and all of Yuma County’s judges took part in the 2026 Arizona Judicial Conference. The primary purpose of this event is to ensure that judges remain well-trained and informed on legal updates. It serves as the judiciary’s main continuing education and professional development event to discuss best practices with colleagues and fulfill mandatory judicial education requirements. This yearly event allows collaboration and networking among judges from justice courts, municipal courts, superior courts, appellate courts, and tribal courts.

🚗 Need to Clear an MVD Registration Hold? We Can Help! 🚗

South County Justice Court would like to inform the public about a helpful new resource available through the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD).

A new TTEAP/AZ MVD Now QR Code Flyer is available to assist individuals with resolving vehicle registration holds related to unpaid traffic cases.

📱 The flyer includes two QR codes:
✅ The first QR code connects users to the Arizona Courts TTEAP Bot, which helps identify court cases that may be causing a registration hold and provides information on how to resolve them.

✅ The second QR code connects users to AZMVDNow.gov, where vehicle registration can be renewed once outstanding balances have been paid and the hold has been released.

This resource is designed to help customers quickly find answers, make payments, and resolve registration holds without needing court staff assistance.

Today, Judge Scarlett Harper welcomed juveniles participating in the Campesinos Sin Fronteras Summer Program to the South County Justice Court for an educational and engaging mock civil and criminal jury trial experience.

Students had the opportunity to learn about the judicial system, observe courtroom procedures, and participate. This hands-on experience provided valuable insight into how courts operate and the important role the justice system plays in our community.

The South County Justice Court is proud to support educational opportunities that promote civic awareness and encourage young people to learn more about the legal system. We thank Campesinos Sin Fronteras for partnering with us and allowing us to share this experience with their students.

We enjoyed hosting these future leaders and look forward to continuing to serve and educate our community.
