We’re sharing an Anonymous Veterans Survey: Food Security and Support After Service to help local Girl Scouts raise awareness about veteran food insecurity and better understand veterans’ experiences after military service.

📝 The survey is short and anonymous.

🇺🇸 V-J DAY | VICTORY OVER JAPAN DAY 🇺🇸

Today we remember V-J Day, marking Japan’s surrender and the end of World War II. On August 15, 1945, the news of Japan’s surrender brought an end to fighting in the Pacific; the formal surrender was signed on September 2, 1945.

We honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Greatest Generation, and remember all those who served, sacrificed, and gave their lives during World War II.

🐾🇺🇸 September is National Service Dog Month! 🇺🇸🐾

This September, we’re celebrating the incredible service dogs who make a life-changing difference for people with disabilities—and recognizing the trainers, organizations, volunteers, and families who make these partnerships possible.

For many veterans, service dogs can provide greater independence, support, safety, and companionship while assisting with challenges related to mobility, vision, hearing, and other disabilities.

These amazing dogs aren't simply pets—they are highly trained working partners who perform specific tasks to assist their handlers.

💙 This month, help us celebrate by:
🐕 Learning more about service dogs and their important role
🤝 Supporting organizations that train and place service dogs
🇺🇸 Sharing stories that highlight the impact they have on veterans and others
🙏 Respecting working service dogs and giving them the space to do their jobs

To every service dog, handler, trainer, and organization making a difference—thank you for the incredible work you do! 🐾❤️

🇺🇸💙 September is Su***de Prevention Month 💙🇺🇸

September is Su***de Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness, start conversations, and remind one another that no one has to face difficult moments alone.

Our veterans, service members, families, friends, and neighbors may be carrying struggles that aren't always visible. Sometimes, a simple “How are you really doing?” can open the door to a conversation that makes a difference.

This month, let's commit to:

💙 Check in on the people around us
💙 Listen without judgment
💙 Reach out when someone may be struggling
💙 Talk openly about mental health and su***de prevention
💙 Remind others that support is available

You don't have to have the perfect words. Being present, listening, and showing someone they matter can be powerful.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text at 988. Veterans can also receive specialized support through the 988 Lifeline.

Join us and our partners for the 8th annual San Luis Obispo Overdose Awareness Day event💜 Saturday, August 29th from 12pm-3pm in Mitchell Park, San Luis Obispo.
