We're proud to celebrate St. Rose Preschool and the impact of the ARPA Child Care Allocation funding.

Thank you to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors for investing $3 million in child care through ARPA funds, and to the SLO County Early Care & Education Planning Council for administering the program and designing a flexible funding model that allowed programs like St. Rose to address their unique needs and vision for growth.

St. Rose's story is a powerful example of how local investment can strengthen child care opportunities for children and families starting in preschool through 8th grade.

Good things are happening in our schools, and students are building bright futures right here in our community.

In collaboration with SLO Partners, an initiative of the San Luis Obispo County of Education (SLOCOE), we are proud to provide multiple career pathways that bridge the gap between education and industry for Central Coast students.

Through hands-on Pre–Apprenticeship programs, interactive Manufacturing Docent classroom visits, and introductions to SLO Partners’ Modern Manufacturing Bootcamp, local high schoolers are discovering careers they didn’t even know existed and gaining a clear path to get there.

As the school year comes to a close, we’re celebrating the progress our districts have made toward building sustainable funding for student mental and behavioral health services across San Luis Obispo County.

Through the CYBHI Fee Schedule, San Luis Coastal Unified School District generated approximately $30,000 in its first year of implementation. Paso Robles Joint Unified and Templeton Unified School Districts are also making progress as they advance their implementation efforts and plan to begin small-scale testing.

These milestones are laying the groundwork for a stronger support system that our students can rely on every day.

Summer is a great time for family adventures, playing with friends and reading. It’s a time you can choose what you want to read: magazines, comic books, cooking and gardening books. Fiction and Nonfiction can feed your imagination and creative thinking. Learn new things and expand your interests. Check your community or library for summer programs. Take the books home and read with your parents, friends, pets, or siblings. There are positive benefits for a society that reads.
