Five Cities Professional Firefighters Local 4403 Welcome to Professional Firefighters Local 4403 page!We proudly serve the communities of Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Guadalupe, Halcyon & Oceano.

Established July 9, 2010 by a Joint Powers Agreement between the Cities of Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Oceano Community Services District, the Five Cities Fire Authority is committed to serve the citizens of each community by protecting their lives, property and environment. In addition, to protecting our member communities, Five Cities Fire Authority also provides services to the Town of Halcyon and the Oceano Dunes State Vehicle Recreation Area. Our department provides a variety of services including fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, prevention, community outreach/education and emergency preparedness.

We had the privilege of sending four of our members to join Class 1 of the Central Coast Truck Academy! Throughout the academy, they strengthened their foundation in truck company operations while learning from experienced cadre representing numerous agencies. The hands-on training provided valuable opportunities to expand their knowledge of commercial and residential ventilation techniques, search operations, firefighter rescue, and forcible entry, further enhancing their skills and abilities. They have brought this knowledge back to better serve our department and the community we call home.

Starting our meet your local firefighters by introducing Captain Burl Vreeland! Not only has he taken on a new role as Captain, but he's also our locals Vice President and leads our Public Education Group. If you were able to attend this year's open house, you might've seen his handiwork in person with the awesome fire props he built and painted for the kids obstacle course. Burl grew up in the five cities area watching his late father, Rick Vreeland, serve as a Firefighter in Pismo Beach , learning the craft and building the passion he exudes today. On top of the many hats , or helmets, he wears within our organization he’s also a local who loves his wife and two dogs , surfing , and some good times. He’s know for his creativity, great jokes, and strong work ethic. Can’t wait to see what he does next!
