The HTF is pleased to announce a $465,000 construction loan to support
Transitions - Mental Health Association (TMHA) new accessory dwelling unit in San Luis Obispo.

This project demonstrates the value of infill development as a tool for increasing affordable housing opportunities while making efficient use of existing land and infrastructure. The new ADU will provide housing for adults with disabilities on an existing T-MHA property that the HTF previously helped finance.

As a certified CDFI, the HTF was awarded a 2024 Capital Magnet Fund grant of $4.5 million. This loan to T-MHA is putting a portion of that money to work and increasing the supply of affordable housing for people with disabilities in San Luis Obispo County.

The HTF is proud to share that we have officially received recertification as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

HTF has been a CDFI since 2007, and this recertification follows a rigorous national process requiring existing CDFIs to reapply under updated standards.

CDFIs invest in local communities and the residents who live there by providing critically needed financing often unavailable from mainstream financial institutions.

As a CDFI, the HTF has received multiple Capital Magnet Fund grants in the past. The most recent of which was $4.5 million and is already being put to work locally.

We are proud to maintain this certification and look forward to using it to increase the supply of affordable housing in SLO County.

We are excited to celebrate People's Self-Help Housing’s payoff of its HTF loan for Wimer Way Homes / Mission Gardens in San Miguel.

The HTF provided a $2 million predevelopment loan to help People’s Self-Help Housing support the site development and infrastructure needed for 14 self-help homeownership opportunities. Through PSHH’s mutual self-help model, future homeowners contribute sweat equity alongside their neighbors, helping make homeownership more accessible for local families.

Now that the loan has been repaid, those funds return to HTF’s revolving loan fund and are ready to continue increasing the supply of affordable housing in SLO County.
