The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for ALL of San Luis Obispo County through Thursday, September 10.

This means the risk for heat related illnesses is high for all populations. Through Thursday, please take care if you are spending time outdoors and ensure you take breaks and stay hydrated. Stay indoors in air conditioned spaces when possible.

9/1/26 at 11:30am: Air quality is deteriorating across the north county. Sensors in the Lake Naci area are indicating that air quality is in the hazardous range and Unhealthy/USG in Atascadero and Paso. Evacuation Warnings issued in SLO County due to Plaskett Fire in Southern Monterey County:

Emergency Officials at the Plaskett Fire have issued Evacuation Warnings for SLC-001, SLC-002, and SLC-003.

These areas include South of the SLO County Boundary, North of Carpoforo Creek and Via Piedras Blancas, West of Green Canyon, East of the Pacific Ocean.

There is NO immediate threat to the public, but residents in the area should take the time to prepare now in case an evacuation is ordered.

Heads up SLO County. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Red Flag Warning for potential for dry lightning, which is in effect from 5 AM to 3 PM PDT Friday.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Moderate risk for dry lightning with minimal
rain as well as gusty and erratic winds.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs 100 to 110 across the lower mountains,
adjacent foothills, and 85 to 95 across higher mountains.

* IMPACTS...Moderate risk for frequent fire starts associated
with dry lightning.
