Traffic Delays Expected During Repairs to Santa Rita Road

Cayucos and Templeton – Drivers can expect possible delays on Santa Rita Road as the County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will be performing road repairs from June 15 through June 26 on Santa Rita Road. During this work, heavy trucks will be hauling material along the route, and motorists may experience traffic delays of up to 15 minutes near the project site, located approximately four miles west of the Vineyard Drive intersection.

Construction activities and traffic delays are scheduled on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., from June 15 through June 26, 2026.

This work is part of the County’s ongoing storm recovery program. Severe storms in early 2023 and 2024 caused significant road damage, including partial lane loss, necessitating these repairs.

Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly and allow extra time for traffic delays. Please contact Kyle Whelan at [email protected] or (805) 781-5211 with any questions or comments.

Summer is here and here’s a reminder that invasive mussels can wreak havoc on boaters, the environment, and our water distribution infrastructure.

Invasive mussels range in size from microscopic larvae to adults approximately the size of a dime to a quarter.
These invasive mussels can produce millions of offspring during a single spawning season.
Adult mussels consume large amounts of plankton, a critical component of the aquatic food web, and can filter up to one liter of water per day.
Adult mussels can survive out of water for extended periods, ranging from one week to as long as 30 days under favorable conditions.

PASO ROBLES – The County of San Luis Obispo Public Works and Souza Construction, Inc., have started work on a permanent two-lane bridge on Creston Road at Quail Creek (near South El Pomar Road) to replace the existing storm-damaged bridge. The work will require a full closure of Creston Road at South El Pomar Road through Creston Ridge Lane.

A traffic detour will be in place from June 1 through September 4, 2026, with partial closures before and after as needed. The expected detour for most residents and visitors to the area is via El Pomar Drive to Cripple Creek Road. Construction is expected to be completed in winter 2026.
