This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy today, and we owe them — and the families who carry their memory forward — our deepest gratitude.

Here on the Central Coast, we are fortunate to live in communities that continue to value service, patriotism, and remembrance. Whether attending a local ceremony, visiting a memorial, or simply taking a quiet moment of reflection, I encourage everyone to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Friendly reminder ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend:

The Chicago Grade, Heritage Ranch, Morro Bay, Nipomo, and Paso Robles Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facilities will be closed on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 in observance of Memorial Day.

The Cold Canyon Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility will be closed on Monday, May 25 only.

Please plan ahead if you need to dispose of household hazardous waste items safely. Thank you for helping keep our communities clean and environmentally responsible.
