Mulford Gardens Improvement Association invites you to stop by and join us for a Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, March 16 from 8 AM - 1 PM at Mulford Park (13055 Aurora Dr).

This will be the first in a series of events focused on habitat restoration at Mulford Park. Volunteers will help with planting native plant seedlings, clearing ivy, weeding, and other light cleanup tasks.

Lunch will be provided for volunteers, along with a milkweed seedling (milkweed helps draw Monarch butterflies!). Useful items to bring include gardening gloves, trowels, pruners, hats, sunscreen, and water bottles.

Adopt a Drain!

Help San Leandro keep drains clean and avoid localized flooding! San Leandro has approximately 2,200 storm drain inlets that can become clogged with litter and leaf debris throughout the year. This can lead to localized flooding during the rainy season, and also contamination of San Leandro Creek and the San Francisco Bay. San Leandro residents and businesses can help the City and their neighborhoods prepare for rainstorms by adopting one or more drains near their home or business. It doesn't take much to keep a storm drain clear. A monthly commitment to check the drain and remove the debris on top goes a long way in helping Public Works maintain the drains to reduce flooding and prevent pollution of our waterways.

Sign up here to adopt a drain and get a free tool: https://www.sanleandro.org/adoptadrain

A raffle prize will be sent to randomly selected volunteers in the Adopt A Drain program at the end of the storm season in the late spring.

Washington Manor Resilience Hub Interest Form

The Washington Manor Neighborhood Resilience Hub is looking to seek input on programming ideas and needs within the community. The Resilience Hubs Initiative was created in response to the urgent need to build resilience in our homes and communities in the wake of the climate crisis and social injustice. From recreation centers to housing complexes, resilience hubs are trusted community centers and spaces that serve as a gathering place to distribute resources, exchange information, and express community care during disasters; while supporting community programming and climate solutions year-round.

The Washington Manor neighborhood extends between Wicks Blvd on the west side, the 880 highway on the east side, the City of San Leandro border at San Lorenzo Creek to the south, and along the canal on the north side. For a more detailed map, see geosl.org

Form responses will help shape the development of programming for the resilience hub and neighborhood. The steering committee of residents will review answers and develop potential programming. Feel free to leave your contact information if you wish to participate in the committee, which meets at the Manor Library bimonthly. Program supported by the City of San Leandro Resilience Hubs Initiative.
