Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to stop by the airport to thank the hardworking officers from the Transportation Security Administration who continue to show up every day to keep travelers safe—even during the uncertainty of the federal government shutdown.
While many TSA officers are working without pay right now, their dedication to public safety has not wavered. Our community is grateful for their service and commitment.
I also want to thank Cosme Fagundo and the team at McDonald’s for stepping up to support these officers by donating meals. Local small business owners like Cosme play an important role in strengthening our community and showing up when it matters most.
This week’s gesture is a great example of how local businesses and community leaders can come together to support the people who keep our city and our airport running every day.
To all the TSA officers working today—thank you for your commitment and service.

Thank you to D10YAC for inviting me to present today about local government and how to get more involved. It was truly inspiring to see such a strong turnout — 92 students took the time to attend and engage.
Your voice matters in District 10 and across our city of San Jose. Thank you all for showing up, listening thoughtfully, and asking meaningful questions.
A special thank you to Kyle, our D10 Youth Commissioner, for organizing this event, and to the San José Youth Commission for the important work you do to elevate youth voices in our community.

SJUSD Meeting Tomorrow About Potential School Closures:

February 10, 2026, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Room 150, 855 Lenzen Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126

The San José Unified School District (SJUSD) Board of Education decided to start a process called “Schools of Tomorrow” that will evaluate closures of some elementary schools and attendance zone changes. This may potentially lead to the closure of either Simonds or Williams Elementary, but they are still determining how to proceed.

Make your voice heard and learn more at the Schools of Tomorrow Implementation Committee (STIC) meeting tomorrow.

The SITC will make a recommendation on how to proceed to the SJUSD Board of Education by March 12. The Board will then make a final determination.

Today, I was honored to present commendation for Officer Michael Jaycox, whose dedication transformed what initially appeared as a small vandalism case into the discovery of a much larger issue. Through his diligence, he stopped an individual in possession of multiple illegal fi****ms who had been plaguing the neighborhood with vandalism and harassment. Officer Michael Jaycox carefully developed a plan of action that led to the individual's arrest. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to keeping our community safe!
