If you see an increased presence of firefighters, fire engines, and emergency vehicles at or around Alum Rock Park next week, there's no cause for concern.
Fire agencies from across Santa Clara County will be participating in the annual Santa Clara County Operational Area (XSC) Wildland Drill on June 8, 10, and 12 to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season. The training brings together firefighters, dispatchers, and partner agencies to strengthen critical wildland firefighting skills and improve coordination during large-scale wildfire incidents.
The exercise will take place from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on:
🔥 Monday, June 8
🔥 Wednesday, June 10
🔥 Friday, June 12
Community members are invited to stop by on Monday, June 8, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to learn more about wildfire preparedness and ask questions about wildfire safety.
📍 Adjacent to the Youth Science Institute inside Alum Rock Park, located at: 16260 Penitencia Creek Road, San Jose, CA 95127
No live fire or prescribed burning will occur as part of this training, and there are no anticipated smoke or air quality impacts.
For public safety, temporary vehicle and pedestrian closures will be in effect in select areas of the park.
