Dear AB Community,
We are proud to share exciting news and celebrate a major accomplishment for our school community.
Our very own Christian Buendia (Grade 8) has been named the 3rd place winner in the middle school category for the Law Day 2026 Video Contest, hosted by the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara in collaboration with the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
This year’s theme, “Rule of Law and the American Dream,” challenged students across Santa Clara County to reflect on how the rule of law shapes opportunity, protects rights, and sustains the promise of the American Dream. Through original video submissions, students explored fairness, equality, and access to justice, demonstrating deep civic understanding and engagement.
Christian’s video stood out among submissions from across the county for its creativity, strong message, and inspiration, exemplifying the very best of student voice and civic learning.
We are also proud to share that August Boeger Middle School was recognized as one of the schools with the highest number of student submissions. As a result, judges will visit our campus to recognize our students and staff for their commitment to civic education. This recognition is part of Patricia Guerrero’s Power of Democracy Initiative, which promotes civic learning and engagement among students.
As part of this honor:
-- Participants will receive certificates of participation
-- Top winners, including Christian, will receive awards and prizes
-- Winning entries will be featured on the Court’s website and social media platforms
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Judge Julia Alloggiamento and the Honorable Johanna Thai Van Dat for their continued partnership and for providing meaningful opportunities for our students to engage in civic learning.
I would also like to recognize and thank our incredible ELA/History and Social Science teachers ( Mrs. Dobrenz, Mrs. Nash, Elle, Mrs. Tapia, Mrs. Gilman-Cama, Mrs. Smith, and Mr. Galindo) for their dedication and hard work in ensuring that 100% of our students had the opportunity to participate in Law Day. Your efforts truly make a difference and have a meaningful impact on our students’ learning and civic engagement.
Please join us in congratulating Christian for this outstanding achievement. His success reflects his hard work and the collective efforts of our teachers and staff in creating powerful learning experiences for our students.
This is a proud moment for our Bobcat community. Congratulations, Christian! 👏
